WP1

All fiber and versatile ultrafast Ytterbium laser at 60 MHz

WORK PACKAGE 1

Design and realisation of an all-fiber 60 W ultrafast Ytterbium laser at a pulse repetition rate of 60 MHz.

Pulses or pulse trains shall be freely and arbitrarily selectable by the user. Three prototypes are delivered to the partners.

WP2

PM-ANDi optical fibers for ultra-stable supercontinuum generation

WORK PACKAGE 2

Design, fabrication and characterisation of polarization-maintaining all-normal-dispersion photonic fibers (PM-ANDi) for ultra-stable supercontinuum generation in the visible to near infrared range of wavelengths.

The research program includes numerical and experimental investigations.

WP3

Broadly tuneable parametric source at 60MHz

WORK PACKAGE 3

The goal is to develop a supercontinuum-seeded optical parametric source driven by the ultrafast Ytterbium laser of WP1.

This platform will include a PM-ANDi fiber of WP2 and bring a high-level of versatility, in terms of both emission wavelength, pulse duration and power/energy control.

WP4

Multiphoton deep tissue and UV imaging

WORK PACKAGE 4

To provide an imaging platform for deep tissue imaging and to detect intratissue UV fluorophores.

WP5

Laser-driven electron beam acceleration by nanophotonics

WORK PACKAGE 5

The objective is to demonstrate the efficacy of nanophotonics particle acceleration at high repetition rates in excess of 1 MHz (up to 60 MHz) with the laser system developed in this project.

WP6

High-speed optical fiber nano-micro-processing

WORK PACKAGE 6

To study and demonstrate the benefits of the versatile source developed in WP1 (high repetition rate and high average power) in the context of high-speed optical fiber nano-micro-processing.

WP7

Management of impact, communication, dissemination and exploitation

WORK PACKAGE 7

Continuous planning of the project’s implementation and managing the impact, communication, dissemination, and exploitation of results.

WP8

Project administration and management

WORK PACKAGE 8

Management of the overall project with respect to administrative, contractual, legal, ethical, financial, and technical issues to ensure highest quality of service and completing deliverables according to the time frame and budget foreseen, in relation with the EU project officer.

The Project Coordinator (PC) and the Management Board (MB), working closely with all partners, will ensure that the planning and effective implementation of the Project are consistent and congruent with the progress made by the VISUAL consortium in terms of institutional and management integration and technical ramping-up.

WP9

Ethics requirements

WORK PACKAGE 9

The goal is to ensure the compliance with the ethics requirements in this workpackage.
